Business and Education Partnerships in Delaware

  • Delaware State Chamber of Commerce
Founded in 1837 as the Wilmington Board of Trade, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the state. The Delaware Public Policy Institute, a nonpartisan affiliate of the Chamber, conducts original research on a host of economic issues, including the state's school finance system. Through Partnership, Inc., another nonpartisan affiliate, the Chamber offers a number of programs that connect the business community with Delaware's schools. The Business Mentoring Task Force builds partnerships between businesses and schools to establish mentoring opportunities. For example, MAKE It! Manufacturing Camp exposes 9th and 10th graders to the field of manufacturing through hands-on activities, and in the Teacher Externship Program, business leaders work with teachers on the real world applications of standards and curriculum.
