Business and Education Partnerships in Maryland

Maryland Business Roundtable on Education
A nonprofit coalition of over 100 employers focused exclusively on improving public education, the MBRT works to improve Maryland's education system through advocacy at all levels. Its "Achievement Counts" campaign includes a Speakers Bureau program with over 2,000 business leaders from across the state who speak to 7th, 8th, and 9th-graders about the opportunities associated with academic achievement. The Teen Website, at www.BeWhatIWantToBe.com, is a resource for students to explore potential careers and post-high school opportunities. Parents Count is a web-based advocacy resource for parents to become educated on the reforms occurring at schools and to engage them on future campaigns. It also manages the Maryland Scholars program and monitor whether employers are asking for high school transcripts.
